Protecting the future of dance at UNL.
In the fall of 2020, the UNL Dance Program was in jeopardy of being cut due to budget constraints.
Thanks to the efforts of alumni, faculty, and current UNL dance students, the program was saved.
To ensure the program is never threatened again, we’ve established the UNL Dance Alumni Endowment Fund, supporting the longevity and visibility of Nebraska’s only dance program in the state’s public university system.
Our mission.
The mission of the UNL Dance Alumni Endowment Fund is three-fold: to build awareness and visibility of our world-class dance program and the high-quality training it provides; to celebrate the program’s substantial contributions to and impact on local and global culture, and to advance the understanding of the benefits of physical expression for every community and every body.
Visibility.
Supporting guest presenters, artists and teachers-in-residence at the University offering movement-based activities to the larger UNL community and/or public. Examples could include masterclasses, workshops, and performances.
Advancement.
Assistance with UNL dance majors attending summer dance intensives such as White Mountain Summer Dance Festival, Bates Dance Festival, ADF, The Laban Centre, etc. These funds could be applied to travel, housing, festival admission and any associated fees.
Impact.
Funding an annual meeting with the dance program faculty and the board of the UNL Dance Alumni Endowment Fund to receive an annual report that documents how the fund was spent, the impact it had on the students and community, and to discuss how to best support the dance program and recommend realignments to the fund’s priorities.
Susan Levine Ourada
“I have always admired the dedication and passion of dance students at UNL.
Through their experiences in the program, they learn, among other things, the values of collaboration, cooperation, innovation, and perseverance; I see these values applied to their future lives, in and out of dance.
The UNL Dance Alumni Endowment Fund was created by the very people who understand how their study of dance impacted their lives. This fund will make dance study possible at UNL for many generations to come.”
Help ensure dance always has a home at UNL.
Please donate.
This fund is designed to make the lasting benefits of a dance education understood for the value it brings to individuals and their communities. Our goal for the fund is to raise $100,000 over the next three years. But that is just the beginning. Once the initial goal is reached, our intention is to continue to give back to the dance program and the students who benefit from this specialized educational experience.
Please consider making a donation at the following giving levels:
